Is the IB Diploma Worth it?

IB Diploma Question. need help!?

  • Hey, I'm right now in Pre-IB 10 at my school and next year I have to choose either IB Diploma or Certificate. I'm doing Diploma hands down since I know I can handle it and it looks good when applying for universities. I'm planning on studying for my MBA in university plus have a bachelors in finance then get my CFA. (I want to be a financial analyst) I have a couple of questions though for those who have done the diploma and certificate. 1) Do you regret taking the IB Diploma or regret taking certificate? 2) Is it worth doing the Diploma? 3) Do universities like it alot? 4) What are your tips to pass onto me to get the IB Diploma? Thanks

  • Answer:

Hi, so here are my answers: 1) I do NOT regret taking the IB. In fact, it was the best thing I could have done. I admit that it was really really tough, but it will pay off if you work really hard. 2) Yes, its worth it :-) 3) Universities love it! Well, the US and the UK love it. I live in Germany and the IB is not that known around here. 4) Its a very nice experience. You will not only get quite smart, but you will also mature in character. There is so much pressure and stress involved, but if you can withstand that pressure and grasp the material, you will open many door of opportunity. If you take the IB, make sure that you are ok with the following sentence: "I dedicate two years of my life to the IB" Happy Hunting :-)
