How does noise cancellation work in headphones?

Would noise cancellation or noise isolation headphones or earphones allow me to get better sleep at night?

  • Ok let me preface this by saying I have JR high and HS dropouts throwing eggs at my house almost every weekend on a continual basis and the cops no matter how many times I complain to them to do something about this they refuse to help because they keep telling the vandals would have to kill, hurt, maim or break something for it to be worth their time to send an unmarked patrol car to get them caught. And I don't have several hundreds of dollars to install cameras or alarm (cause they are gonna hurl the eggs anyway).....and the sensor lights I put up did nothing but aggravate their egg throwing fetish even more...my house is ona corner and the neighbors refuse to help or get involved bunch of wussies so I'm done trying to capture them on tape with my own cheapy video camera...I have their plate #'s but the cops said unless they had visual proof that its them they refuse to run the plates for me as well So onto my question...I only hope these egg throwing wannabes get bored cause I already am and since I have a heart condition I was wondering where can I purchase affordable noise isolation or noise cancellation headphones or earphones while I sleep.... everytime they hurl eggs its sounds like "gunshots" but when I come home from work I just want to go to sleep that's all and I was wondering where can I purchase affordable headphones that WILL NOT be plugged into any device more like used to cancel out any noise from tht outside of my house??? something afford say round 50 bucks is all I can fork over.... PS I have tried ear plugs several brands and kinds they DON'T work for me, I tried calling newspaper & TV outfits to make complaints out of this egging situation (I pretty much aggravated the situation as well, DIDN'T WORK), and YES I have tried using a camera small and big ones to catch these vandals and lets just said BJ's and Costco's won't give me my $400 BACK :(..... can some please tell which sets of ear phone/ headphones I could buy affordable inexpensive ones that work ....causing I'm praying that if I ignore these monsters they will hoepfully get bored and stop Thank you.     Here's a thought, buy a shotgun, walk out there, and say "get off of my ******* lawn" they will get the message. Also, vmoda bass freq headphones have the best noise Isolation for under 100 bucks

Around here, vandalism is illegal. If it's happening that regularly, it should be very easy to catch. Sounds like you should report your police department to authorities. Vandalism is still illegal. They won't stop. They will do anything with which they can get away. Bullies don't stop until forced to stop.

me i would personally throw some lead their way, but thats me, since the police wont do their job, and your dealing with teenagers, its not cheap probably, but hire a private investigator, mommy and daddy would probably lay the smack down.

Noise canceling headphones will NOT help. They can remove background noise, as in an airplane. They are very bad at sudden, loud noises. They are bulky, so not comfortable to sleep with. Simply ignore them. The more you tease them, the more fun it is for them. If you ignore them completely, they will simply go away.. However, do try to use a simple camera to catch them while they throw eggs. Good luck.
