What is the best way to fix DVD scratches?

Is there a way to repair scratches on a dvd?

  • A dvd of mine recently was scratched. Is there a way to fix it cheaply, or is it better to simply buy a new copy?

  • Answer:

well ive seen several ways to do this. You can buy some things specially made to clean scratches from the store. They are normally cheap. You can just take the disk back to the store you bought it from and ask to get a new one. If that doesn't work then send it back to the company (usually the address is somewhere on the dvd case) and ask for a new copy. I've also seen some wild things done such as using toothpaste and peanut butter, idk how that worked though. I haven't tried the toothpaste and peanut butter one but if you look on youtube you can see it done. Sorry to hear your disk is scratched.

yes you can go to electronic stores and buy special machines that remove scratches by taking a thin layer off the back of the dvd. its relatively cheap and you can use it on all your dvds.

If used sparingly and diluted with a bit of water on a soft cloth Brasso is a excellent scratch remover for CD's http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brasso

You can use this dvd copy maker to make a copy of the scratched dvd. It can create a duplicated copy from the original one. http://www.dvdtopreviews.com/dvd-copy-review-windows/plato-dvd-copy.html If you still have questions, contact with me or keep asking on http://answers.yahoo.com
