Are banks closed on MLK day?

An ATM machine wouldn't give me my card back, and my bank is closed for MLK day, what can I do?

  • I was making a deposit, and the machine spit out my card, presumably because I was taking a little while, and then ate it a few seconds later, and no matter what buttons I pressed, the machine wouldn't do anything. I called and left a message reporting a lost card but I can't talk to anyone since all member services are closed for MLK Day, what can I do in the meantime? I'm afraid that someone else might get ahold of my card and I can't talk to any people since no one is working the phones today.

    It's alright. If you were unable to get it back I doubt anyone else could. Just speak to them first thing tomorrow. And keep an eye out on your account balance online to make sure no fraudulent charges are being made. I suppose everything will be alright. Good luck,

You can call your bank's customer service number, but you are NOT getting your card back today. The card WILL be retained by the machine until the machine is OPENED for service. If you had not reported the card missing, you MAY have been able to retrieve it tomorrow. Now that you reported it missing, it has ALREADY been canceled, and you will have to wait at least a week for a replacement.

It sounds like you were taking way too long to give the ATM machine any input or to retrieve your card from the slot, so the machine thought perhaps you had forgotten your card. And rather than let your card just sit there in the slot for anyone to take, the machine is probably programmed to pull the card back in and store it safely in an internal receptacle until you contact the bank to retrieve it or the bank contacts you about it.

Nobody else will get it. Its inside the machine and the employees can unlock it and take it out for you. Theres really nothing you can do if its closed. Use an alternate form of payment until tomorrow. the bank should have customer service reps so that you may at least tell someone about it.

My bank US has 365 service there has to be a number you can call...but that did happen to me no one can use or axcess your account so you don't have to worry...you'll have to pick it up Tuesday!
