WHat is the different between available balance and current balance?

What does it mean when my current balance is smaller than my available balance?

  • On my checking account e-statement it says my current balance is $20 but my available balance is $150? I have direct deposit and I'm suppose to have been paid tonight.

  • Answer:

It means your available balance is $150 (probably because you just recently got some money deposited) but your statement balance right now for interest calculation purposes is $20. I would expect that tomorrow they would be equal if you checked. Edit: Guys read the original question. His/her _available_ balance is _higher_. Funds are not on hold. It's the exact opposite.

it means you are waiting for the release of the cash as it is still being transferred as paperwork ahem computer is a little faster it means wait 2-3 hrs and you are paid

It means that you got a deposit of $130 which hasn't completely gone through yet and therefore isn't available yet.
