How do I get a car title that has been lost?

I got a car and never got title transfered and i lost the title how do i get new one in state of texas?

• We also have no idea how to contact the original (and only) owner. We had the car now for over a year but it has been sitting up while we had a motor replaced and other work done on the car. Someone in TX. please help me find a way to get the title for my car.

  You may be able to get the information about the previous owner from the DMV. If you can, you would then have to contact them, and ask them to get a duplicate title for the vehicle. You should expect to have to pay any and all fees involved, and may have to pay them for their time and trouble as well! This is why you should transfer title promptly, even if you are not putting the car on the road for a while!
