Whats the best way from Hudson Valley NY to Long Island by train/bus?

  • I need to go from Hudson Valley NY (closest is Beacon Train Station/ Salisbury) and make it to Farmingdale NY. I dont want to drive, would rather take bus, train, subway. Is there a bus that would do the whole route?

    As of today, June 17th, 2009, Metro-North on both side of Hudson River and Long Island Railroad has been increase by 11.6%. Take Port Jervis Train Metro-North West of Hudson under contract with New Jersey Transit from Salisbury Mills/Cornwall Station to Seacus Junction. It cost you $13.50 one way, but do not purchase onboard the train. When there is New Jersey Transit Ticket Vending Machine or window is open, buy ticket there. If not, $5 surcharge will apply. At Seacus Junction, transfer to any New York-bound train offer by New Jersey Transit straight to New York Penn Station. Then follow sign to Long Island Railroad, and purchase round trip ticket because there was no TVM at Farmingdale. Then take Ronkonhoma Branch to Farmingdale.
