How do you get your sleep back on track?

I've been waking up at 11am-1pm, and going to sleep 12-5am. I've tried so hard, but I can't seem to get my sleep on track, and I also can't fall asleep earlier. I try to set an alarm for earlier so I'll be tired later in the day to go to bed earlier, but it doesn't work. What should I do to get my sleep back on track?

Answer:
This happens to me, and what I do is get good rest, relaxed, listening to the radio, then get out of bed early in the morning and have breakfast and coffee. And then, I stay up all day, not napping but taking it easy as much as possible. I'll go to sleep at a reasonable time that night. Things that help you get to sleep: daytime exercise, seeing sunlight or light from a SAD lamp after waking up. A book with clinically proven self help like the one by Peter Hauri. Google "Maryland university sleep center."

1. Remember of some dream. Sometimes works for me. Or, 2. Have valerian tea before bed. Or, 3. This always works: walk at least 1 hour sometime between 14-18h not too slow, not too brisk. Or, 4. This one is boring, but works: Mind the breathing: Take equal times of inhaling, stay, exhale, stay (count 5:5:5:5 for example). Do that until tired (and very bored). Sweet dreams!
