How do you motivate yourself to study?

How to motivate myself to study more?

  • I alway plan to study, but end up being lazy. I usually study 2 or 3 days before exam and as a result I receive bad marks which makes me depressed. I want to study but whenever I open the book I feel tired and sleepy and I hate my self being like that. I also drink a lot of coffee but doesnt work. My courses at university are quite hard and I was told that I need to dedicate at least 10 hours a week for each course in order to receive decent grade. I heard some people study 40 hrs a week for 1 course so they can get A or above. Please let me know how to motivate my self and focus. Is there anything that can prevent me from being sleepy and lazy and make me more energetic? Need Serious answer.

Will power alone will never work over the long term. It is the hardest way possible to get yourself to do anything. The answer is to discover the secrets of self motivation. Why? Because it is like trying to open a tin can with your teeth when there is a can opener in your pocket. Instead you need to tap into the limitless power of your mind. When you do you can break bad habits, create beneficial new ones and put yourself back on track easily, quickly and with very little effort. You see... Making changes to enhance the quality of your life does not need to be slow or difficult. Unfortunately most people are still struggling because they continue to rely on ineffective approaches like will power. Forget about will power. Become a self motivation expert! Instead write down one small action you have been putting off and answer the following questions and really put some thought into the answers: 1 What am I missing out on of importance by not doing this? 2 What will I gain most by doing this? 3 Why is it important to me to get this done? 4 How is not doing this inconsistent with who I really am? And then... Pretend You Have Already Completed the Task: Get a pen and paper and take 5 minutes to describe how you feel now that you have already finished the task you have been postponing. i.e. as if you have already succeeded. e.g. I have already cleaned the yard and I feel fantastic. My family and friends are really impressed and I feel so proud of myself and so delighted that it is finally done. The yard looks immaculate, so tidy I have even impressed myself. I feel so powerful, energetic and motivated. I feel on top of the world. etc. etc. Do this quickly and write with as much emotion as you can express. Spend at least 5 minutes on it. You will be surprised at how well this simple process works. You may find that you feel a boost in motivation that gets even better each time you use this process. Do it once a day for best results. get a study group. better yet, scare the crap out of yourself and tell yourself that your life depends on that test and you have to study. idk. my way is kinda hostile. works for me though.

Where are you studying? Do you have a quiet and comfortable place to study? Sometimes your environment has a lot to do with it. If you are in a noisy place and have people running in and out, it's hard to concentrate. Also make sure you are eating three meals a day. Get some fuel in your body and maybe that will help with your energy level. Studying is so hard. I had the same problem and it was like I couldn't study. I was hungry, sleepy, bored, and uncomfortable. I found out that studying in my bed was the worse thing to do. Find a nice comfortable place or room and go in there and study. Have some water and if you get sleepy, get up and take a walk or go stretch a little and grab some fruit. I hope this helps you!

Seriously? Get a part-time job doing something you hate, or at least, wouldn't want to do for the rest of your life. One summer during college I was the "grunt" for a tree removal service. Hard, hot and heavy work. Sure did make studying for exams look a lot more inviting next semester.

Study at least a little bit of the subject at a time, then take a 20 minute break and do some movement during that time. Go back and study and do the same thing. Do this with each subject every night. Also, another thing that might help is seeing if your college's student services department has study skills seminars. Mine does once in awhile.

this and more at web page ... How about making a big list of reasons to study? (e.g. get into good university, be proud of results when people ask, prove certain teachers wrong maybe, beat any rivals you have...anything really) Pin it up on your wall (or maybe by your computer as that's one of the best distractions, I've discovered ) and read it when you're feeling unmotivated. Make 'to-do' lists with boxes to check off when you've done a certain topic, for example. Promise yourself a reward when you've done a certain amount.
