AP: Economics, Should I take Macroeconomics or Microeconomics?

I'd take microeconomics, because its much easier! Macroeconomics is the study of society as a whole and microeconomics the study of economic decisions taken by individual economic agents, including household and firms.

some people are die-hard microeconomists, and others are die-hard macro people. there isn't really a way of telling which one you'd be (i thought i hated macro until i took the intermediate level course). if you're more interested in studying individual choices, such as why individuals make decisions on how much to buy, how much to spend, etc. then you'd want to take micro. micro is also a baseline class for macro - if you take micro first and eventually decide to take macro, it'll be a lot easier. if you're more interested in studying governmental decisions (GDP, money, inflation, exchange rates) then you'll want to take macroeconomics. in my opinion, microeconomics made more sense to me, but i did enjoy both macro and micro.

I'm taking micro and macro at Berkeley right now and I will tell you micro is a nightmare! In my classes, micro has a lot more math, while macro is more conceptual. Another thing I also like about macro is that it's more applicable, especially with how the economy is going right now.

Microeconomics deals with supply and demand. Macroeconomics deals with the money supply. It's on a larger scale. It seems that a lot of people find macro more interesting than micro.

Macro depends on micro, so I'd start with micro.
