What guitar strings are used in good riddance?

• the song good riddance (time of your life) by green day has an acoustic when it was recorded. I'm wondering what type of strings they use? I can't figure out what type my acoustic is I believe it's plain steel. I just would be happy if some one could give me a heads up on that. Thanks!

  "Steel string" acoustic can be a bit misleading. The core of the string is steel. Your treble strings are plain steel though the G can be wound as well depending on the gauge. The wound strings have a bronze alloy wrap over that steel core. Odds are, you have regular bronze wrapped wound strings. If the wound strings are sliver instead of bronze, you have electric strings on. Electric strings aren't really designed for acoustic, they have less mass to them and don't sound nearly as good. That song uses regular bronze acoustic strings as far as I and my ear can hear. Phosphor Bronze is another type of alloy used for acoustic strings. Those would be fine for your guitar and this song. the song is in Standard E. I think the reason you may not be getting it is the timing. That's always the hardest part of learning a new song is getting that timing down right.
