Well its really easy.. What I did was go to websites and find tabs.. and play songs untill you know them good and can play them no mistakes. And then after awhile you will notice your getting better you have my word.

Go to your local music shop and look at the guitar tutor books. Alternatively, look around for anyone offering lessons.

IM LEARNING HOW TO PLAY GUITAR TOO! Well anyway, i am starting 'our song' by taylor swift, so i learned by searching learn guitar chords and found a site that teaches you where to put your fingers. http://chords.kytara.cz/guitar-cords/ and then you just search the tabs for the song you want to play and go step by step. Eventually you will find yourself getting used to the tabs. It hurts though. you have to build calluses.

I did not know anything about guitars when i bought my first guitar. I learnt from reading books. My favourite one is The New Complete Guitarist- everything about guitars, which i found on ebay. Also try u tube. Good luck!

I'm going to assume that you are right-handed. (I am left-handed but play the guitar right-handed. This matters, though I'm not sure why.) Place the index finger of your left hand on the thickest string of the guitar (the top string, aka the low E string), and move your hand down the neck until your fingertip is just to the left of the third fret - the frets are the metal bars set into the front of the neck. Press the string to the fingerboard (that's the front of the neck) so that it doesn't touch the wood to the left of the fret, but the fret itself. Take a pick, aka plectrum, in your right hand, and use it to pluck the string by gently but firmly pushing it across the string so that the string is briefly in contact with the pick and is then released. Do this, adjusting your hands as necessary, until you get a clean and clear note with no buzzing. Congratulations. You just played the note of G. You can work out the rest from there.
