How do you sweep pick on guitar?

you are hitting a few notes in one sweeping motion.you can add hammer on or pull off embellishments to dress it up. try picking down d,g,b,e string [G6] then bend up d on b string add some vibrato and you got a sweep pick lick.

I've been playing for about 11 years and one thing I noticed when trying to pick up extended techniques on the guitar (such as sweep picking) is that you have to DO IT SLOWLY!. If you start trying to sweep at the same tempo as Frank Gambale right out of the starting gate, you're gauranteed to have some problems along with bad habits. My recommendation is to start with basic triads (Maj, Min, Aug, Dim) and play them up and down at your own pace. Never sacrifice clarity of tone for speed because it will end up sounding sloppy. Always remain calm and relaxed. If you start to tense up, you are at greater risk of slipping or making a mistake. This also goes for when you begin to increase your speed. Gradual increase in small increments is the best way to go.
