"Can Allah create an rock that He can't lift?

Can God create a rock so heavy he would be unable to lift it?

  • I'm just trying to point out a potential problem: -If he can create a rock he can't lift, there is something he is unable to do, which means he is not omnipotent. -If he cannot create that rock, then there is something he is unable to do, which means he is not omnipotent. How does this affect our view of God as an omnipotent being?

  • Answer:

What you are asking for is a more a paradoxial type of question. As illogical as trying to answer as "What came first, the chicken or the egg?". The link (http://www.carm.org/questions/rock.htm) has a fairly straightforward answer/explanation of this question using a thoughtful line of logic rather than the canned "Because he can do anything." response.

if he is out there he created this so called wonderful world, how come he can't fix it? if its soo great why do all religions teach that you won't be happy until you go to heaven? , or until he destroys this woinderful world he created?

If that's what He wants to do, He can. If He wants it to be unliftable, He can make it that way. If He later decides to lift it He can do that too.

am i the only one who has a problem with all the people replying saying "god can do anything" ? that's not the only thing this question is about. it's a paradox. and god doesnt exist, anyway. wake up, people.

Think.

answer 1: God's power is infinite, and weight of heaviest rock he can make is infinite. do the math... answer 2: your question is invalid because laws of physics only apply to humans, there is no such thing as 'heavy', 'weight', 'lift' when it comes to God.

Commending you on a great question. I'm loving the people going "No, he can do everything!" which means they don't really understand the question. Ahahah. Anyway. I'd just say that God must not be omnipotent. If there is a God. Sometimes I think about it, and think that maybe our "God" is actually some kid sitting in a corner somewhere in Africa, keeping a secret very well.
