How often should someone workout?

Could someone help explain how to workout impedance?

  • Hi, I need to workout how to do impedance for my forthcoming electrical exam, one of the questions on a previous paper had an capacitor of 15uF and a inductor of 0.05H as well as a resistor of 5ohms. I Know it is something to do with Pythagoras but i am not sure on the rest. Thanks

  • Answer:

Capacitive Reactance Xc = 1/(2πfC) Inductive Reactance Xʟ = 2πfL Impedance Z = √(R² + X²) where X = Xʟ – Xc Phase angle θ = arctan (X/R) Xc, Xʟ, Z are in Ω, f is in Hz C in farads, L in Henrys Plug in the numbers. Note that you need the frequency.

Many moons since I last did this so having to dig deep! Taking f as 50 Capcitor impedance = Xc = 1 / [ 2π f C ] = 10^6 / [ (2π f) 50 ] = 63.7 Ω Inductor impedance Xl = 2π f (0.05) = 100 π (0.05) = 15.7 Ω Resistor value = 5Ω Z = 5 + j 48 I Z | = [ 5² + 48² ]^(1/2) = 48.3 Ω Let me know where I went wrong !
