Are GCSE Languages Hard?

Would I be able to manage 2 languages at GCSE?

  • I really enjoy languages and I am in top set for both French and German as my teachers say that I am a talented linguist. I'd love to take both languages at GCSE but I am slightly worried I would get confused. I am willing to put in lots of hard work and effort in to achieve good grades so, should I take both languages? Thanks

    I did Spanish, German and Latin at GCSE and then did Spanish and German at A-level, and now I am in my final year of Spanish and Arabic at uni, so I think doing more than one is fine! As the structures of French and German are so different I doubt that you will find that they interfere with each other very much at all, not like French and Spanish for example where so many words and structures are practically the same that it might be confusing. Doing more than one language is a huge advantage to any linguist and helps to give you a much better understanding of 'language' in a more general sense and if you wish to continue studying languages after GCSE then I'd strongly recommend taking them both to broaden your knowledge and keep your options open. idk if its the same at your school but at mine we can do a duel award and a single or two single awards, double labguage is a duel. they do it so you dont get confused and they have a week of german and a week of french.and any french exams yiu have will be french week and any german exams will be german week. its not really any different to language lessons now so you wont get anymore confused than you are already ;) i dropped german coz my teacher hates me :L
