  Transparent just means that something is completely clear. Clear materials can be tinted various colors though, and if the right ones are used the colored material will still be completely clear though colored. Translucent means that something is at least somewhat see-through (allows light to come through), but it's not clear and transparent. It can also be tinted or not...and some colorants can cause a clear material to become translucent rather than transparent. (Opaque means no light at all will come through.) So . . . do you want a transparent sugar glass that's tinted yellow, or do you want a translucent sugar glass (candy glass)? Or something else? To tint something water-based like sugar "glass" and keep it transparent instead of becoming slightly translucent, you'll need to use a water-based transparent coloring (food coloring, for example).
