  Here is how to make a zippered pocket for a purse: http://henriettashandbags.com/zippered_pocket_installation.html I have done a similar pocket for ski jackets. I just make the pocket longer. One thing I do different is to leave the top of the pocket free. Instead of sewing all four sides, just sew the sides and bottom onto the lining leaving the top free. This way you have a two-in-one pocket. One without a zipper and the other with a zipper. If you don't want to do a zipper, you can use velcro closures as well. However, the zipper application on these types of pockets are easy to do. (Easier than velcro---at least for me!) Another idea is to add fabric loops with a plastic hook/buckle similar to the first three found on this link: http://www.umei.com/buckles-plastic/plastic-buckles-3.htm You can hook your keys onto the plastic buckle and not have to search around for them.
