Transfer paper for the black hoodie?

How to transfer a intricate design to a piece of clothing? 10 points!?

  • I have a picture of a band that I would like to put on the back of a hoodie (It's pretty detailed as it has the five members of the band with their hands, faces, hair etc.) However, it's really complicated and confusing to stencil out on freezer paper, but I do have copies of the picture printed out. Is there anyway I can get this on cloth, preferably a dark blue/black hoodie? And what exactly is transfer paper? I tried Googling it but no good answers are explaining it to me. Please help and no stupid answers; this is a birthday gift I'm doing for a friend and I'm running out of time.

  • Answer:

Impossible for someone who has never done this. You can find transfer paper where hand embroidery supplies are sold. Hobby Lobby, JoAnn Fabrics, Walmart. Not the same as the iron-on transfer sheets that you copy your art to via an ink-jet printer. If you decide to use the iron-on transfer sheets - buy the one for dark fabric. Make sure the ink cartridges are not low and print a copy on printer paper first to be sure it is what you want. If you can, reverse the image before printing. Instructions will be on the iron-on transfer package.

Other answers

Transfer paper is sheets that you put into your computer printer. Scan your design then print out on the transfer paper. Using your iron you transfer the design onto the hoodie. WalMart, Craft Stores, JoAnn's Fabrics sell this. Package with 5 sheets costs 7 to 15 dollars.
