What is a classical convention?

What was the high-lite of the "Keep on the Watch" District Convention?

  • Just wanted to see what everybody thought about the convention this year. What did you like the most about it? What did you learn the most about at the convention? What will you remember the most about the convention? You can pick one, or answer all. I will leave that up to you.

  • Answer:

I've only attended the Saturday session so far. This weekend I'm going for Friday and Sunday. (It's a 3 hour ride each way) But the symposium Saturday afternoon on avoiding Satan's traps had me "gripped" to my seat. If that is any indication of the other two days, I'm looking forward to them immensely. Sunday will be very hard for me as it's the 12th anniversary of my son's death. So if any Witnesses want to give me a little "boost" by mentioning my mental state in their prayers that day, I'm sure it will help.

Impossible the whole convention was wonderful I would have to copy down all my notes and that would take too much time I loved the symposiums they went so fast the drama had me in tears the experiences the lunch break associating in a spiritual paradise. I just remember an experience from the convention that really touched me. A brother his wife had accepted the truth before him and took the children to meetings. He was not opposed just apathetic . He would pray with his children before they went to bed and one night his daughter was distressed over the wickedness. He said it's OK the new system will be here soon. The little girl with tears in her eyes threw her arms around her daddy and said " I want you there too" well what could he do after that emotional plea

The info on marriage and the drama......no, it was....OH JUST EVERYTHING!!!! Brother Lett is always so encouraging and the info he shared on how Jehovah feels about our lingering guilt when we make mistakes made me cry and happy at the same time!

The most outstanding was the air of the convention...we are all ready for the new system then was the songbook...then the new releases.....then the talks about get ready. It was a climax convention. Been going since 1971 to assemblies...this one by far outweighs the rest. It's like they said it flew by and had me gripping my seat in tears.

We just had our circuit assembly last week. Our district convention will be on December this year. I am sure that Jehovah will again pour out his spiritual blessings on us. I am also excited in associating with brothers from other congregations. With regards to highlights, obviously, I can't answer yet. =)

What did YOU enjoy?? Oh wow... Just ONE thing. I don't think I can chose just one. Hold on... *leaves to get notes* Okay a few parts that I liked are as follows: Day 1: The symposium "Stay Awake" as Christian Families! I particularly enjoyed the part for the young ones since I am young myself. I was ecstatic when we received the New Song Book!!! What a joy that was to hear some of the songs. Day 2: Symposium: Help People to "Awake From Sleep" - It talked a lot about our ministry and how to improve, and since we all can improve it was very informative to me. I liked the point that we need to be specific with our prayers. Something I need to work on. Not prayers, but being specific. I LOVED the baptism talk. Although I was baptized at last Assembly I listened like it was my baptism all over again. Ohhh..... the Symposium: Watch Out for Satan's Traps...... that was one of my favorites. 5 different traps!! Day 3: The Drama takes the cake for day 3. Such an amazing drama. I don't think there was a dry eye in the building!! This quote I can't remember which part it was in but I liked it. "If something is important to us we spend a lot of time on it." The point was that if Jehovah is important to us we are going to spend a lot of time doing things that are pleasing to him such as our ministry and work on improving in areas which need improvement.

I enjoyed the whole thing. The talk "You Know Neither the Day Nor the Hour." that discussed the benefits of not knowing exactly when the end would come was encouraging. "Know that the End is Near" encouraged me to stay awake and gave me added faith that the end is very close, because it covered events, attitudes, political circumstances, and the condition/activity of God's people that were prophesied for the time of the end. I liked how it was said not to view today as just another day, but to keep alert day by day. It showed me the attitude I should have towards those in the field, such as emphathy and compassion, and the need for mild responses. (Proverbs 15:1) The meetings held during the noon hour for those reaching out are encouraging. I got to go to one. Much, much more! But, like Nikkii said, it would not all fit here.

i'm from the US and had the privilege to attend my 1st international convention in Paris! the French brothers and sisters were so warm and friendly. we meet our friends from all over the world at the Eiffel tower. i guess it was over 3000 of us there on Sunday. we were singing, hugging and taking pictures. it was our brotherhood at its finest. by the way the district convention was great too! LOL

I appreciated the Sunday morning symposium about Satan's traps. Especially about the one he uses to crush us. It's hard to NOT feel guilty about past sins even though we've been forgiven of them. I also liked the concluding talk on Sunday that Brother Stephen Lett from the Governing Body gave. He is such a captivating speaker. I'm too tired to type all of it but it was one of my favorite talks. And of course the drama was excellent. It epitomized how I as a parent would feel if my children made the decision to leave Jehovah.
