Is buffer capacity constant?

Why do we need the same amount of lab samples to buffer the capacity?

  • I did a lab on buffering capacity with soil, sand and water. Why do we need the same mass of those samples? :S

  • Answer:

You can't compare two samples unless they are the same mass. For example, if you are comparing the ability of a sponge to hold water or the ability of a sponge to hold oil, you would need to use the same size sponge in testing both the oil and the water.
