In addition to the x^(1/3) method, you can also use buttons. Under the MATH button, the fourth option down will give you cube root. Any n root beyond that will require the x^(1/n) method.

find the cuberoot of e.g. 8. press 8^ (1/3) press enter to get answer. unlike squareroot function, there is no direct button to find cube root. hence you have to take x^(1/3) to get the cube root

They are right about the 1/3 power, however there is another way. I don't have my TI83 with me, but I think it is in the MATH menu.

Taking the cube root is the same as taking a number to the (1/3) power. So to find the cube root of 27, you would do 27^(1/3).
