The Theory of a Flat Universe?

Do you agree on my theory? That our universe is in another universe?

  • Heres my theory... were on earth, the earth is in the solar system, the solar system is in the milky way, the milky way and all the galaxies we see around us are in the universe, our universe is like the earth being in another solar system and so on and so on........? in other words, our universe is in another universe, in another universe, in another universe, basically making our universe as small as an atom or smaller.......making space a never-ever ending cycle

  • Answer:

Is our universe in another universe? Before we can address that question, we must first define universe. The word universe denotes all space and everything (matter, energy) contained within it. The prefix uni means one. The root verse means word, carnate message, meaningful substance, matter. Questions regarding our universe persist today. Does it have a beginning and end, or does it go on forever and ever? Is it linear or curved? If it has limits of length or curvature, then what lies beyond the Universe? If something lies beyond the Universe, then can’t we accurately call that the Universe? Some lay people and some scientists conceive of the universe as infinite space. Others define the universe as finite, or limited (perhaps curved), space. Still others incorporate the elements of matter and/or energy into their definition of the universe, as opposed to the space beyond matter and energy. Given these concepts of our universe, some scientists conclude that the “totality of space could be infinite. Shrink an infinite space by an arbitrary amount, and it is still infinite. (Scientific American March 2005).” As to the notion that we live in an ever expanding universe, moving away from every other universe on the fabric of space-time, some scientists are careful to point out that “ Andromeda, our nearest large galactic neighbor, is actually moving toward us, not away. Such exceptions arise because Hubble's law describes only the average behavior of galaxies (Scientific American March 2005).” In accordance with your supposition that our universe is in another universe, “it has been hypothesized by some scientists that the universe may be part of a system of many other universes, known as the multiverse (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universe).%E2%80%9D Modern astrophysicists talk about multiple "pocket" universes that branch off from one another. Stephen Hawking points out that parallel pocket universes can have no effect on a real observer inside a single pocket, so, according to Hawking, they are theoretical baggage that should be eliminated from cosmology, the study of the origins of the universe. Some string theories define the universe as a three-dimensional space in an invisible space having more dimensions. This is, in essence, a universe within a universe. Our zone, a “braneworld” could periodically bounce into another parallel braneworld. This may create what would appear as a Big Bang from one perspective or a Big Bounce of alternating expanding and contracting universe from another perspective. Such a cataclysmic event is thought to occur 300 billion years from now, resulting in the rearranging and creation of a new universe. Is our universe inside another universe? Well, apparently the Men in Black had it right. Our universe seems to be inside of something else, another universe, called the multiverse. Steve :-D

yes, I have often thought of this as possible. We are both infinitely small & infinitely big.

If we master the art of dimplomacy on earth and God wishes to test us on another level, then maybe a universe IS like a nation.

sorry to disappoint but this was discussed when aristotle waa a kid its not possible due to mathematical and physical constants.

It's very interesting and exciting to think about it that way... Just ike the ending of Men in Black right? The universe in marbles thing.. That's a possiblity I guess. And i think no one can answer it. But i think yah, it's possible. Just like the thought of the universes being infinite and all, that it would be very, very possible that there are other living things aside from us.

It's hard to agree with your theory. There is not enough information to come to this conclusion. We only know enough to trace our origins back to the "Big Bang" concept. However, that doesn't mean you are wrong.

Scientific theories are restrained by one fundamental rule. The processes used to discover truth must be reproducible and verifiable. So far, there is no evidence, let alone proof that such a multi-verse exists. Personally, I don't believe it simply for the simple reason that such a multi-verse is too complicated and unnecessary. The universe as we know it is far more complicated than we know. New theories are developed and new facts are discovered every day. It is an exiting time in astrophysics. There is enough to discover in what we have to last for the foreseeable future. Theories which can not be tested are just daydreams. We can dream up anything we wish. Just don't claim any part of a day dream as 'real' unless you want people to put you into the 'lunatic fringe.' If you are serious about this idea, then spend years working out ways to discover and prove it. You will need to become a leading scientist and lead everyone to your idea. If you are willing to do that, then go for it. If you are not willing to discover and prove it, then start developing your writing skills and write the next Star Wars, or Battlestar Galactica books. In either case, a brilliant imagination will be required. Good luck!

Thats a new theory dear.. A good one though.. start writing new laws of physics.. U have a little newton in u.
