Are GCSE Languages Hard?

How important is gcse languages ?

  • Hey Im I'm year 9 and I am coming to options This is what I was thinking about Picking : Media Pe Buisness ICT I am not sure if these are good? Also in Spanish today they were talkin to us about how important a language is. I'm not sure what career path I am looking to take. But is a language a huge priority ? Thank you!

    Languages are very important. Our school made us sit through endless talks on why taking a language for GCSE is important (which is pointless because we have to anyway because its a language college :P) and it helps because they look good on your CV, and companies quite often want people who can communicate in other countries. Languages can open up careers to you, but i think you have a good combination there, so if you were willing to drop one of them to take a language it would be a good thing to do, but you don't have to. It's really up to you, but personally i would take it because of the opportunities you can get from taking one. Good luck with your options :)

it all depends on where you want to go with your career. With what you have there doesn't seem to be much point in the PE as the others are all directed towards business....PE isn't but fitness is just as important to your development. As for languages.....a big YES!! If you have the ability to learn it now do it! You find it harder to learn later in life....trust me on that!!! Also having a language will open a LOT more doors for you in jobs when you are competing against others. This way you can move further afield to find work than just staying in England....and you never lose that skill if you keep using a phrase book now and again!
