How can I become more focused in school?

  • I'm at my breaking point. I have F's, D's, and C's with one or two B's. I don't know what to do. When I ask questions, I get screamed at for not knowing. I come home crying because I just DON'T know what to do. I'm the biggest procrastinator of all time and I seriously need to break the habit. My teacher makes up these crazy reasons why she couldn't help me when my parents ask. Like today, for something in English, mshe told my mom that she was watching the kids get on their bus. I asked her the questions in English class, how could she be out there when I'm asking her questions? She always tells me I don't pay attention and don't do anything. I don't know what to do. I've tried sucking up, I've done everything imaginable. Please, I need help. I need to get ahead and I'll do WHATEVER it takes.

First it is very inspiring to see that you are trying to improve your schoolwork. To help yourself with procrastination break down your tasks into smaller tasks that are easy to accomplish. Try talking to a trusted friend who takes the same classes as you to see if they can explain. You should speak to your parents again about your teacher and try to explain how she couldn't be watching kids get on the bus during the day and lesson. Try to reread your textbooks and figure out what confuses you the most.

Study and review what you don't understand. Check with the teacher after school if you don't get the lesson. Do your homework as soon as you get home and save the free time for later. Always study before a test so that you don't end up clueless the day it's given. Put effort into your work and try your best. You have to work like an A student in order to be one :). Procrastinating doesn't help it and you'll find it much easier if you get things out of the way before moving on to things like computer, tv etc.
