Bone scan revealed small lesions on lungs/ribcage. What could they be other than cancer? ?
-
My dad had a bone scan today that found several small lesions on his lungs. His X-rays and all other tests have been clear and he quit smoking 20+ years ago. I just want to know what else they could be aside from cancer? Thank you

Answer:
A lesion can mean anything from cancer to a calcium deposit or cyst. Typically a biopsy is performed and checked for markers indicating cancer. Wait for the results and take action from there, if they happen to be cancer, hopefully it was caught early enough. There's plenty of treatment options and most people who have cancer survive. Best of luck!

I recently had a stroke and had lesions on the brain, they took about four months to fade. These are small bleeders and they usually fade.
