How can I improve my singing?

How's my singing? How can i improve?

• Here are a couple clips of some indiscriminate singing. http://speedy.sh/3ah5y/sweetness.wma http://speedy.sh/uGPp5/summertime.wma Whilst singing i feel like i sound great, i'll even use the put folders in front of your ears trick and it sound powerful, and emotive to me then, but when i listen back to it i'm disappointed. Being a musician and playing guitar, violin, and piano (to a lesser extent) i have always wanted a powerful beautiful voice, I'd take Bob Dylan's, Morrissey's, Van Morrison's, and especially Jeff Buckley's any day. However we're all stuck with our voice's i'm afraid. Now i usually would be quick to say there is something beautiful about that but since i don't have a beautiful voice i'll refrain. Of course I've come here not just to dwell on my problem but to learn how to improve. So any feedback is welcomed whether on the quality of my voice pitch, control, or how to improve it's all appreciated. Lastly, if i could be pointed in the way of some free youtube lessons or what have you that you fine folks of the Yahoo answers community have found useful i'd be much obliged.

  You've got potential there. I'm no singer but the first thing I would say is to sing to a backing track, acapella singing is not going to give you a basis to work from. The second thing I would say is to experiment with range and key. You mentioned playing guitar, why not play a chord and try to sing the note? Find your key range and then find songs you want to sing and see if you can sing them in the key you chose. I've heard a lot worse and you've got lots of potential, if you're serious, pay for some lessons but if its a hobby (like it is for me), try what I said above.
