How can you tell if you are singing with you diaphragm?

  • I do A LOT of singing but I heard that if you don't sing with your diaphragm you could ruin your voice. But I can't tell if I am singing with my throat or diaphragm. thanks! (=

    i was always told that when i'm up front, to sing from my diapragm basically means like your sucking in your stomach. they always said to pretend that someone is going to make a shirt for you and when they go to measure your belly, you want it to be a few inches smaller. haha its kind of weird but it actually works! :)

i'm not an expert, and i can't sing.... but i know what you mean... i think it's similar to "projecting your voice" on stage... you just sort of... push the voice out with your stomach, and only use your throat and mouth to affect the sounds... do you tense your stomach muscles when you sing? like i said, i'm not an expert...

when u breathe in, you have to feel your lungs filling with air, as much as u can, when u breathe in use the a vowel ...u need 2 take lessons cause so many people teach whis wrong and it has a huge impact on ur voice...the person above me is totally wrong btw
