Where should I bring my old TV set?

Problem with my tv, ps2, cords, anything?

  • I wanted to play some ps2 the other day on my tv, cool right? Well I plugged in everything, turned it to video on my tv. Turned ps2 on it does its spinning of disk stuff, but there is a problem! no picture, or sound, nothing, it doesn't ever turn on, no matter what port i put the cords in. So I thought maybe the cords were messed up but then, I remembered it's those old school cords with the xbox and nintendo ports on the same set of cords. So I brought my old n64 out plugged everything in. Bam, it worked, so now i'm sitting here wanting to play ps2 really bad but I can't. Does anyone have any idea why this happens I'm not sure if it's the ps2 cause I dont have an old tv to test. But I did try the Nintendo and the ps2 on 2 different hdtvs and the same thing happened twice. I thought about buying those ps3 cords cause I heard those might make my ps2 work but I dont really feel like spending money, if i'll i'm going to do is bring home the cords hook them up and have it fail on me then I'm stuck with cords for no reason at all. Has anyone ever had this problem that can offer advice? Or does anyone have a working ps2 with the ps3 cords and if they try and use the ps2 cords does it just not work? Any and all help would be splendid cause I really really want to play ps2 right now.

  • Answer:

Maybe it is the cords. If it doesn't work on any tv. Then its that. And yes ps3 cables do work on the ps2.

The PS1, 2, and 3 all use the same AV cables (The same power cable for the PS1, 2, and slim PS3s too), so if you have an old PS1 or something you can try those cables and see if they work. It could also be your port is busted somehow but the only way you'll be able to test is with another set of cables. You can return the cords at most places usually. They don't have the same policy for hardware as they do games, just hold onto the receipt.
