Does the RROD make the 360 not worthwhile?

Do Microsoft replace launch RRoD Xboxes with new ones?

  • My 20gb launch Xbox 360 just bricked itself, RRoD. It ran out of warranty in '09, and I'll have to pay a hundred bucks to get it repaired. My question is, as I've heard this rumor in some places, do they replace these really old launch 360s with new 360 slim models? In my opinion this would make more sense as they are supposed to be immune to the RRoD error. I don't really want to fork out a hundred dollars for them just to tighten up some screws and send the same old model back for it to die again in another couple years, as I'm confident that I can fix it myself. If, however, they replace really old models like mine with new ones, then I would gladly pay the fee to get it fixed. Thanks for answering.

  • Answer:

You get either your own back once they fix it or an equal model. You're not going to get a slim model because that's not what you sent in.

havent heard this, but highly doubt theyre going to dish you a 360S for $100. I'd just go buy a new one, my launch box broke recently too.
