What is the difference between Facebook Groups and Facebook Pages?

Facebook - Pages, Groups, Fan of?

  • Can someone explain the difference between these? I have some "Pages" set up in my profile, and it bothers me that it's public to whoever searches me. And why aren't "Groups" public for everyone to see? What about being a fan of something? And I'm not sure what benefit there is to having these Pages" set up, I don't really use them. Thanks so much!

  • Answer:

Well, becoming a fan of something basically adds it to your pages. I don't know how to change privacy on that specifically. But pages just basically tell your friends and anyone else what you enjoy or an opinion on something, just by simply becoming a fan. Hope that helped!

You can change your privacy setting so that only your friends can see your info. You become a fan of pages and all they are are just things that you agree of or like or whatever. Groups can also have settings changed so that they are hidden unless you join the group and they are also pretty much things that you agree with. There isn't a whole lot of a difference, it's just groups are usually used for things that are more organized. (such as a business) You don't have to use them. And if by pages you actually mean the little tabs in your profile that's just so it's easier to access photos, info, or some applications that you use.
