Can I Enable Add-Ins on MSN Messenger 2009?

I was disappointed that Microsoft finally forced me to upgrade my trusty v.8.5 Messenger to Messenger 2009. On v.8.5, I was able to enable the Add-Ins button with some minor adjustments in the Registry Editor, but I cannot enable any Add-Ins on Messenger v. 2009. I had a great little Add-In for an automatic translator that used Google Translate. Now, I am forced to use Microsoft T-Bot, but inviting T-Bot to the conversation disables file the camera and file transfers. Can Messenger 2009 be "patched" to enable Add-Ins?
