Is it true that if you attract enough subscribers to your YouTube channel you can make enough money to live on?

My husband has always been a YouTube viewer, but ever since he quit his job a few months ago, he's become an avid video maker. He's always made videos, but now he is serious about trying to gain a following and hopefully make money with it. He has gone from all types of material-- from trolling and harassing the popular YouTubers to addressing political extremes. Ever since I have known him he has been at different extremes of the political spectrum, of opinions in general, and it just seems to me that he tries too hard, either to find his niche or find himself. He's 28 yrs. old. I recently lost my job because I made the mistake of posting a video of his on my FB where he indirectly attacked some of my colleagues. I admit it, it was COMPLETELY my fault bc I was angry at the manager, I told him about it, and he made an indirect hate video which I chose to post. But now, we're both unemployed (not broke--yet), and while I'm giving my job search 100%, he's giving his videos his 200%. So much that now he is doing the same things those YouTubers he trolled do-- catering to the masses by telling them what they want to hear. Anything, ANYTHING to get that unreachable fame! He's 28. I don't want to crush his dreams, but I also want to be realistic. So does he have a chance on YouTube? His material is getting better I must admit. How long does it take to make enough to pay bills on YouTube?

Answer:
You can't get money by posting videos on YouTube. If you become a youtube partner, you need a LOT of views, subscriptions, comments, etc. If your videos turn viral, you could have a chance. ShaneDawson is the highest paid youtuber and he makes 315,000 a year..

you really cant make a living off of youtube the first thing he needs too do is first u must need at least 450 subscibers too get paid i have that and i only get paid 100 bucks every month but i have over 12 thousand subscribers! and that took me about 3 years with hundreads of videos but it pays off and i'm only 14 and im makin cash but its not that much but my opinion you cant make a living off of that hope it heps
Sure you can. One of my favorite youtubers, NintendoCapriSun, became a partner when he hit 50k subs. He now has 100k + subs and that's how he makes a living so yes, it's possible. Just wish him luck and hope he gets there. Btw, a video with 1,000,000 views makes you $3300 richer :P
