I'd like to recommend HD video editor to you, I always use it to edit video and make funny video for uploading to Youtube, it's easy to use and the quality is awesome, you can crop, cut, join, edit video with it easily. It also embeds many special effects, you can even add text to video or add background music, that's pretty cool. It worth a try. Here is the free download link. http://www.avs-video-editor.org/ And here is a step by step guide about how to use it http://www.avs4you.com/Guides/How-to-start-working-with-Video-Editor.aspx?sct=aff&ct=regnow&cid=175028 Hope it helps. MY answer is like the old "How do you get to Carnegie Hall?" question and the answer is still the same. practice, practice, practice. Nothing really complex about the editing in the video and that's what makes it well done. They used simple editing techniques to produce a clean and effective video. The part that you refer to can be done in all of the popular video editing programs (Final Cut, Sony Vegas, Premiere Pro, Avid) very easily. Part of the "trick" with a sequence like that is the planning of the shot; framing one shot so that the border lines up well with the transitional shot. With the shots lined up correctly it is a simple slide transition that a beginner could pull off. There is only so much I could tell you about editing in one post. My best advice is to look at techniques that inspire you and then look up tutorials on how to do those things on youtube. Before you did that, I would suggest you learn the basics of editing that apply to all editing and master them. In the video you linked, most of the editing was simple , well-timed cuts. Nothing really advanced. Just a matter of timing and knowing what looks good. This is a VERY basic primer but it will give you some terms and principles to get you started: http://www.mediacollege.com/video/editing/tutorial/
