Do you have any suggestions for treating acne on my back?

Any advice or suggestions to help fight acne?

  • I'm seventeen years old, && like all people, I hate having acne breakouts. I have used a countless number of soaps && acne products, both little known companies as well as name brands. I have very oily skin, but at the same time it's sensitive - many products leave a burning sensation && flushes my skin a bright red. (allergic reaction?) One product I've used, Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash, does help to control my acne, but even after one use it not only takes away all of the oil but leaves my face dry && peeling to the point where I have to use lotion constantly for three days to get rid of the peeling. So, are there any (non-expensive) products out there that can control my acne without turning my face into a red peeling mess? Thank you very much for your help in advance.

  • Answer:

I'm 23 and I only recently figured out how to really control my acne. I've always had really oily skin and I tried everything to remove all the oil from my skin, but nothing seemed to help. This is going to sound crazy and weird, but I swear it's worked- I stopped using acne products and started using something called the oil cleansing method. Most acne products talk about how they're oil-free and make you feel like the natural oil in your skin is the problem, but it's not! My skin was really oily because I kept removing all the natural oils from it, and it was overcompensating by becoming really oily. I still wash my face twice a day (you should use a creamy cleanser- anything that foams is just drying out your skin in a bad way), but now twice a week I use the oil cleansing method at night. Mix 30% castor oil (available at most drugstores and on amazon) with 70% olive oil, sunflower seed oil, grapeseed oil, or jojoba oil (whichever you have available) and pour a quarter-sized amount of it on your hands, then massage the oil into your face for 5-10 minutes. You'll start to feel some grainy bits in it- this is all the dirt coming out of your pores! Then wet a washcloth with warm, steamy water and drape it over your face until it cools. Wipe your face, and repeat until you feel like you've removed the oil. You should also use oil as a moisturizer- jojoba oil is good. I swear, this sounds weird and crazy, but my skin has cleared up a LOT and feels so much less oily, even though I'm constantly rubbing oil on it. Try it for a couple of weeks and see what happens! (If your skin starts to feel really dry, lower the amount of castor oil.) This method is also very inexpensive- castor oil doesn't cost very much at all, and neither do olive oil or sunflower seed oil, and a little bit of it goes a long way, so it lasts a long time. wash your face everyday! i never have Acne on my face because i CLEAN my face everyday..

Drink a glass of water with two teaspoons of organic apple cider vinegar 3 times a day. Ever since I started drinking it, my skin has completely cleared up. I no longer have acne. :)

I had that exact problem! What I did was I went to the doctor and I was subscribed this creme/gel moisturizer. I am completely in love with it and I recommend it. The only way you can get it is from the doctors.

i had the same problem. i had really severe acne but i went to the doctor and she gave me2 antibiotics for the face. these antibiotics are different because they are not pills. one is "clindamycin phosphate topical solution, USP" 1% and i put that one on my face first. its like liquid. after that one dries i put on the cream that is "benzoyl peroxide gel 5%". Ask your doctor about these. I had acne since 8th grade and i barely got these medication in the 12th and they have worked completey!! :D i have clear skin now but the only thing is that i still have some acne scars. but with makeup you can barely tell. hope this helps and ask your doctor for these :)))

What i do daily is use a gentle face wash like cetaphil then use a spot treatment in the morning and an all over face treatment at night. I used to have really bad acne and the only thing that helped was going to a dermatologist. They gave me antibiotics and the spot and all over face treatments. It is kind of expensive, but worth it. You can also make home made masks that will help prevent break outs like: Pumpkin Treatment: 1 tsp canned pumpkin puree with 1 tsp honey, 1 tsp cider vinegar, 1 tsp flour and 1 egg. use a fork and beat the mixture until smooth. Smooth a thin layer onto dry clean skin and leave on for 20 minutes. Rinse with warm water. Pat skin dry. Strawberry Mask: 1 egg white, 3 or 4 large strawberries, 1 tbs honey, 1 tbs fine cornmeal. Beat egg white in a glass bowl until frothy. Blend Strawberries and honey. Add mixture and cornmeal to egg white and mix. Apply to wet, clean face and leave on for twenty minutes and rinse off with room temperature water. Avocado Refreshing and Soothing Mask: 1/2 avocado 1 tbs yogurt 1 egg white 1/3 teaspoon lemon juice Mix all ingredients into a bowl. Apply to damp skin and leave on for ten to fifteen minutes. Rinse off with room-temperature water. Pat dry and follow the moisturizer. Great for oily skin.

Hi Pussycat, Here is something that i think that may be of help even if for only information purposes but also at the end you will find some natural remedies with instructions. There is one plant that is famous for stopping acne in it tracks and the name of that plant is witch hazel. It is a fact that the benefits of this plant for acne is so beneficial that more and more people with this skin condition are looking at more naturalistic remedies than ever before. This is because witch hazel contains tannin acid, a substance that is so successful fighting acne and other major skin conditions. The diluted or should I say distilled form of witch hazel acts as an effective topical remedy for acne and acne scars. The shrub itself contains antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, which makes it one of the most effective cystic acne remedies. Bacteria more often than not cause acne and using witch hazel can help fight the bacteria that cause acne, and in turn helps prevent the formation of acne with proper skin care. It can also diminish the swelling and redness linked with cystic acne. For instance as previously mentioned, witch hazel contains tannin and furthermore this substance is recognized to be a strong anti-oxidant. It can purify the skin without that typical irritation that is associated with other chemical-based treatments. Witch hazel is also gentle on the skin, Thus you can anticipate minimal to no side effects at all. It essentially has a numbing effect when applied to the skin, thus avoiding irritation. What's more, witch hazel is well matched with the skin's pH, making it less likely to produce irritation after it has been applied. Because of witch hazel's anti-inflammatory properties, it can tighten pores and reduce swollen veins. Aside from tannin, witch hazel also contains, resins, flavonoids, and procyanadins, which promote and enhance the anti-inflammatory properties. Witch hazel can be applied directly to the skin. Just like how you use a familiar astringent. It can be applied right away to the skin, just like how you would use a general astringent. Additionally when using witch hazel it should be applied directly to the area concerned twice a day, in the morning and at night before sleeping. It is important to remember not to apply it to your skin more than three times per day, as your skin can become dry. There is also another fantastic use for witch hazel it can also be applied as a facemask. It is also important to understand that what treatment works for some one else does not necessarily mean that it will work for you. So with that said, always ask friends and family to give their honest opinion on any acne treatment and always make an informed decision with any product. As a sufferer from acne many years ago I had once bought a product that actually caused my skin to ache and burn and had to stop the treatment. Although now I have very clear skin and do not suffer any more from any type of acne and thank goodness many treatments have moved on from then and there is far more information out there thanks to the internet, so with that in mind we can all decide on an individual treatment that actually works. Note: Some of these recommendations may take 2-4 weeks before any results or improvements are experienced. Apply distilled white vinegar (can be diluted if too strong) to the face and affected areas. Allow this to sit for 5-10 minutes before rinsing off with cool water. Lemon or any citric fruit works great as a natural exfoliate, removing dead skin cells that may clog the pours. As with the white vinegar, apply the juice of a lemon (or desired citric juice) to the face. Allow it to dry for about 10 minutes, then rinse with cool water. You may feel a mild sting or burn when the lemon juice is applied. If so, diluting the juice is acceptable. Increase water consumption. Water helps flush toxin out and help transport nutrients in the body. Eat a properly balanced diet to ensure proper nutrition. Take a high quality multiple vitamin and mineral supplement to make up for nutrients missing in today's foods. Echinacea or Oregon grape can be used to boost the immune system and fight acne-causing bacteria. Dandelion, Burdock or red clover can help to keep the liver clear of toxic overload. Herbal combinations can also be used to cleanse and detoxify the liver and reduce acne. Kindest regards and best wishes Gerry. Hope this has helped.

Olay makes a product called the pro-x cleanser. It's like a toothbrush for your face, almost, and it cleans your pores completely so that the products or acne medications you use can actually penetrate your pores and work. It's comparable to the Clarisonic brushes but uses rotation. It's much cheaper but still effective. You might want to also try clean and clear's persa-gel cream, but only in conjunction with the pro-x or Clarisonic because it does clog pores after a while. Also be sure to develop a skin care regimen so that your skin can become more balanced, and be sure to use moisturizer. Additionally, gel cleansers like neutrogena's oil free acne wash can be drying especially in the winter. You may want to switch to a cream cleanser in the winter to preserve moisture. Hope this helped!

Most anti-acne products use drugs to stop bacteria infection or to exfoliate skin. It is why you feel burning. But acne come from the blockage of pores clogged by oil . Soaps can not clean out oil. Chlorella Gel Cleanser works better. It uses green algae to absorb oil out of pores and remove acne quickly.

I am 16 years old and also have acne, not only on my face but elsewhere on my body and I keep it under control in many ways: 1) Make sure it is definitely acne. Just because you have a sudden rush of hormones resulting in an influx of pimples doesn't really mean that you have acne. Get it checked out by a doctor who will confirm it. I don't know if you are a boy or a girl but as a girl I know that period can seriously affects spots in general as well as acne. 2)Get a doctors advice. Visiting you doctor about this situation can have many benefits, he or she will confirm whether you do have acne and can recommend you to certain products or even give you a prescription. 3)Learn the warning signs. If you feel a spot appearing on you face, dab some tee-tree oil on it. (Believe me, it is a miracle product) My personal advice: The current face wash you are using is too drying: stop using this product before it causes too much damage!! Other people may say differently but diet does not affect acne, although keeping healthy and drinking water does help keep the skin clear. Use a gentle face wash, preferably tee-tree based, as it will deal with your acne without aggravating your skin. Acne is a combination of hormones and skin types and your oily skin has probably not helped with your situation. Hope it helps :) xx
