Elbow Bursitis/Popeye Elbow recovery time?
-
The background... I haven't fallen or banged my elbow at all but I work long hours in an office and tend to lean my elbows on the desk quite a lot. Up until now i've had no pains or problems from doing so, but at around 04:00am this morning I noticed a dull throbbing pain and discomfort in my left elbow. I've got quite slender arms and realise this hasn't helped matters. The pain has become unbearable overnight, I went to a walk-in clinic this afternoon to see a Doctor and he diagnosed the problem as Elbow Burstitis (commonly known as Popeye Elbow). I have been prescribed anti inflammatorys and antibiotics. I literally can't use my left arm as I am experiencing incredible throbbing pains and aches, it's quite unbearable. I don't mean to seem melodramatic but it's become very debilitating :( How long does this problem usually persist? And what is the likely recovery time? I am moving house in two weeks and dread the prospect of still having this problem; trouble lifting and moving boxes. I was wondering if there is anybody with knowledge of this ailment could give me some advice: (either somebody in the medical profession or those of you who have suffered with this problem in the past.) is there anything I can do to quicken up the process or help aid the recovery? How long does it generally take/did it take you to recover? Thank You for reading! Hope you can help me guys...

Answer:
If you leave off your elbow, a week will be enough. Just keep icing it and it will be fine.

hi ive had bursitis in my knee and it went pretty quickly but my mum has had bursitis in her arm for about 3 months now although she does have other ailments so im not sure if that the reason why hers has gone on for so long) generally you are advised to rest the arm for a bit and if the fluid does not go after the course of the anti biotics go back to your dr who can drain the fluid do not put any unnecessary strain on the arm ie leaning on it,heavy lifting etc best wishes
