What are tips to study for the biology sat ii?

• I am taking the SAT II in biology on June 5th. I have the Baron's and Princeton Review books and just began to study for the exam. I took a practice exam and only scored a 590, I am going to study a lot more but I am a straight A student have a 4.0 gpa. I am only a freshman in high school but I was wondering if this is normal for me to score such a low score before studying and if anyone has any tips to study for the exam. Also I am unsure if I should take Biology E or Biology M, does anyone have any opinions on that?

  For a freshman to get a 590 is pretty good especially after having only one year exposure to the subject in honors biology i presume. If i remember correctly, some of the content is covered only in AP biology (though these subject tests are not geared toward college-prepped kids). It would definitely improve your score if you were exposed to biology in greater detail in AP biology as a sophomore. I took this subject test in June of 2008, a month after the ap bio exam. With only a 1 month time gap I didn't feel the need to study =] To sum it up, take the test in June after taking an AP Biology course and its May exam. But take it this coming June anyway to see how you do. The decision between E and M really depends on you. I don't know which area you're better in. When I took the exam i took a look at both sections and determined Ecology was much easier. I think ecology in general is much easier to understand than molecular stuff (especially all of that genetics, cell energetics, and structure stuff)
