What is on the entrance exam for the selective enrollment?

Harder...HESI or NLN Nursing Entrance Exam.?

  • I finished all of my prerequisites and all other courses (i.e. generals, electives, selectives) required to receive either an ASN or BSN. I want to go to an ASN program at a community college because BSN programs are far more competitive and I want to start working as a RN in less time. I then plan to work as a RN after receiving my ASN while going to school to receive my BSN. My sister took the HESI entrance exam twice and barely failed both science parts. I haven't even started to practice for either of the tests, but am naturally good in math, reading, and vocabulary (science is not my favorite subject at all...). I am intimidated by the entrance exam and bummed that nursing schools put so much stock on the scores in order to get into a nursing program. Which exam is harder, the HESI or NLN? What should I expect from them both?

  • Answer:

Well... I took the Hesi Exam only once and got a 70% on it and didn't even study. I heard that the NLN was harder. On the HESI you have nothing to worry about. There is a HESI practice book that they offer online just google it and buy it. It's not expensive. I plan on taking it one more time. It's all about preparing to get the grade you want.
