Biblical references in SAT essay?

  • I'm taking the SAT on Oct. 1st, and right now I'm in a preparation class for the test and we're studying on the essay section. I'm planning on asking this question next class, but I was hoping to get some other opinions or information. I was wondering if it's every wise to use biblical references on the SAT essay. For my homework today, I have a practice essay and the assignment is, 'Is it ever okay to lie?'. - Now, I was raised Christian, so my roots against lying come from the Bible and lets say I'm opposed to the idea of lying. Is this ever an okay bet to go with? I'm worried if I did used some sort of biblical reference on the real essay, the graders might knock me down if they don't agree with me - which ISN'T how the grading system is supposed to be, but I know it can happen. I want the best score I can get. So, easily summed up, do you have a chance of getting your essay marked down a point or two for using biblical references? (P.s for my practice essay, I wrote my opinion as /for/ lying. My examples were how the US lied to Pakistan in order to close in on Osama, and George Orwell's character Winston in Nineteen Eighty-Four, my overall conclusion being that when in need, lying can be in the interest for the greater god. I got a six (highest score) on the essay! :D )
