Why can't hear with my right ear?

I smacked my right ear getting into my car on the passenger side door. Now I cant hear out of it. Why?

  • This past weekend, on Saturday, I got smacked on the side of the head by the car door entering the vehicle, (the door was closing on its own while I was getting in) I didnt think much of it, but four days later, it still hurts and now my ear fades in and out of hearing, almost like there is water in it. Anyone know whats wrong with me?

  • Answer:

It may also be that the shock of the "smack" threw your upper neck into subluxation. It is common for this to exact changes in hearing or eyesight (or to cause a headache, e.g.). See your family chiropractor immediately. Note any neck pain/stiffness. If there, ice the neck and do some gentle stretchiing...until you can be seen by the D.C.

Depending on the angle that it hit your ear (eg, the window hit your ear flat, like hands clapping) it could be a ruptured eardrum. Might wanna go to a doctor.

It is common to lose hearing for a week or so after something like that. Still I would go to a doctor to make sure there is no serious damage.
