Will my toenail grow back?

Will I lose my toenail? Will it grow back normally?

• I have been walking a lot recently as part of a diet I'm on. The other day, I overdid it a little and hurt my big toe. I noticed my toenail looked swollen and bottom of the half moon had turned red. The nail felt mushy and sore. After reading some runner's forums, I realized I had a blister under my nail. I took their advice and poked a hole with a needle at the bottom of my nail near the cuticle. I was gentle about it. Once I got through, a clear pinkish fluid squirted out, like a typical blister fluid. I squeezed out as much as I could and it felt a lot better, although still a little sore. The swelling went down, too. My toenail still feels mushy and looks a paler color than the rest. Will i lose it? That doesn't bother me too much as long as it grows back. I read about some people whose toenail grew in weird afterwards and I'm worried about that.

  i had a similar situation and lost my toenail, which grew back normally; however one time when my toenail needed help growing back regularly, a foot doctor put this medicine in it that helped: I would go to a foot doctor if you are worried
