What can I do about my toe spasming?

Do I have a broken toe?

  • Just about 20 minutes ago, I hit one of my little toes really hard on a chair. It is not swollen or anything, but the tip of the toe is numb. I can bend my toe like usual, but it still feels kind of numb. I'm wondering, is my toe broken? I also walked around a bit, and it hurts near the tip, but the pain is not unbearable. In fact, I hardly feel any pain at all, but on a website, I read that if a possible broken toe feels numb or tingly, an emergency room visit is needed. However, I don't feel that this is necessary. I'm pretty sure they meant if the broken toe is so serious that is obstructs blood flow, which I know the toe would turn blue, which is not my case. I'm sure the numb feeling at the tip of my toe is only due to trauma, and my toe is normal color. Also, I can move my toe normally and it is not disfigured in any way. About two years before, I had a basketball accident and really sprained my finger. I didn't know if it was broken either. My finger started to swell, and the pain was very extreme. I also couldn't bend my finger because of the swelling, and if I tried, it would also feel numb. I didn't do anything about it. Now, my finger is as normal as can be. I'm thinking that this is the same case with my toe, though I am not sure. I don't want to risk anything because I avoided the emergency room, but I'm sure that this is not going to be the case. Could anyone please give me suggestions on if I should visit the doctor or not? Or if my toe is really broken? I do have a bandage at home, and if it is broken I can bandage the broken toe and the toe next to it together. Thank you for all of your inputs!

NO. the ligaments are just overstretched. apply ice. :)

I've seen a lot of broken toes and usually their swollen and completely bruised. I say see if it swells and how it feels in the morning then go to prompt care. Best of luck! :-D

Just ice it, even if it is broke its just a toe lol
