Would I have to take out a tongue piercing to get lip stitches?
-
I'm aiming this question towards anyone who works in a hospital or for some odd reason has had a similar experience- not for anyone who wants to criticize my decision to pierce my body, or knows nothing about this subject. I have quite a few body piercings, including my lip and tongue. I only have had my lip pierced for a couple weeks and the swelling seemed to subside, but the other day I woke up with the piercing (a flat backed stud) embedded in my lip. One day later, skin has grown over the whole back of the piercing on the inside of my lip. My piercing was done professionally done, and the only solution I know of is to get to the hospital and have them cut my lip, remove the jewelery and stitch it up. I was just wondering if for this to be done they would make me take out any other one of my piercings in the immediate range as some surgeries would go. My tongue piercing is a couple months old, It's kind of far back and not really in the way of my lip..I'm not really interested in losing it, removing or changing it, so I'm just hoping I won't have to.. Thanks!

Answer:
There is no need to remove other piercings if you wish to retain them. Regards, Ojasaesthetic

I'm not a professional, but that is something you have to talk to the doctor about. And, it also depends if you are given anesthesia to sleep or if they keep you awake. If you have to be asleep for the procedure chances are they will have you take it out. They usually don't allow you to have in any type of jewelry.. Same as how your not allowed to wear anything but the gown they give you. It's all for sanitation purposes. If you are going to be awake, you might be able to keep it in though.. But, it really depends on how long the surgery will last and how they are going to do it.
