How can I make friends in a new state?

Is it hard to make US friends in Kansas than any other state?

I am an international student and I would like to know much more about the state of Kansas. I know that all the states are different from each other in it's customs, values, etc...However, I've been here for 5 months. Even I only migrated to the US in January. So can anybody living in Kansas give me tips on how to be friends with American around 19 -22 years old. (Since I am a 19 year old male).

Usually in places like that, the people aren't very open-minded. Start going to some functions or parties. I'm sure they have some dates and places to be in your student center. Hope this helps.
