Will this amp work with these box speakers?
-
Hey guys, I have a pair of 12" subs from radio shack. They are 450 amps max, and 150 rms a piece, with 4 ohms impedance. I'm not looking for an expensive amp, or one that will be the best, just one that will work well, and will give me a good sound. Do any of you think this amp will work? http://www.walmart.com/ip/DP-Audio-250-Watts-x-2-Car-Amplifier-DA500.2/12347332 or http://www.walmart.com/ip/DP-Audio-500-Watts-x-2-Car-Amplifier-DA1000.2/12347326 with this wire installation kit http://www.walmart.com/ip/Boss-4-Gauge-Amplifier-Installation-Kit/11968851 or http://www.walmart.com/ip/Boss-10-Gauge-Amplifier-Installation-Kit/11968794 Thanks in advance

Answer:
First thing you need to know is how you plan on wiring them (and therefore how powerful of an amp you need to buy). In order for me to give a straight answer I will need whether the subs are SVC or DVC? Two DVC subs with 4 ohm impedance will be wired for 2ohms (generally) together. In this case, the amps you are looking for are fine because you can (or should be able to at least) bridge them to one channel. Or you could just run each sub to a seperate channel...your choice. Just make sure your subs can be wired for 2 ohms on their own channel. As far as amp quality, I've had terrible experience with "wal-mart brand" amps. I know everyone wants to save money, but you get what you pay for. And that is the truth. Most amps do not do what they say they do, especially when it comes to RMS. But assuming the amps you posted above are telling the truth about their max watts, I'd say that the DA1000.2 is the one to go for because it has 500 watt max x2 channels. I looked it up and could not find the rated RMS. So I do not think that each channel won't do any more than about maybe 100w rms each. That will completely underpower your system by 100 watt rms which isn't good for your subs. If you just want some bass and don't really care if you mess up your subs, then you can get something cheap...but if you want them to last and sound the best, you will have to put some money into it. Hope this helped!

I highly doubt that you will be satisfied with those amplifers. they only provide max ratings. which are useless. they could end up only running 50 watts RMS. there aren't any rms specs on them. you should try to get an amp that puts out close to 150 watts RMS for each speaker.
