Why is my Sirius Radio so quiet?

Why does my sirius radio sound awful in my car?

  • From a "first time listening" perspective, it doesn't sound "awful," but when compared to my 2007 Honda Fit's factory CD player as well as the local FM stations, it sounds quiet and almost muffled. The highest volume the factory player will allow me to get to is 40. When listening to the radio or to a CD, 40 is unbearably loud. But often times I have to turn it up that high when listening to Sirius in order to get just a decently loud sound. Also, the CD player and local radio sound much clearer and crisper, and after I've been listening to the sirius radio for a while and switch to a CD or the FM radio, music sounds much clearer and crisper. My question is why is this happening? We had the radio put in by a Best Buy. My dad had his put in my Best Buy as well and his sounds great in his Nissan Pathfinder (unsure of year of model - newer though). Any thoughts?
