Can you hook up two Alpine amps to two 12" type r subs.?

Don't listen to Angel. Unless you have extra cash lying around to buy some more subwoofers then you can power each sub with 1000 watts. The type Rs are powerful subs that can handle 600 watts rms at the most consistently without risking blowing the subs. If you want to be heard a few blocks away then 1000 watts is plenty to make your brain vibrate. The guy at crutchfield is right. The guy at bestbuy is an idiot. Alpine is known for high quality products and often underrate their products but they don't underrate their products at half of what they can actually put out in wattage. The other guy is right about the alternator strain as well. You would need to upgrade your electrical system substantially in order to power a 2000 watt system correctly and safely. Just stick with the 1000 watts unless you want to drop some dough, a lot of it. If you want a 2 subs that can handle 1000 watts rms each then buy the swx-1243d subs from Alpine.

i would think you could do that if they where one amp to one speaker but dang talk about battery drain,and alot of money down the drain to ask around at alot of places and see like car toys or any local speaker place see what all of them say
