Cheap 800 RMS 4-ohm amp?

What should the rms and max be on subs for a 1100 watt amp....?

  • i have a crunch p1100.2 its a 2 channel amp its ratings are 2x250w at 4ohms each channel 2x550 at 2 ohms each channel and 1x1100 at 4ohms im thinking 2 channel set up at 2 ohms but my last sub was 1200 watts max and 400 rms 4ohm and i blew that out within a couple days and it was a kenwood. so help cuz i was looking at like dvc subs in stead of svc but if im putting out 550 into a sub and its rms is 350 or so and the max is like 800-1200 will the sub blow then?

  • Answer:

If the amp claims to be 1100w max then you can bet the rms is about 550-600w. This means that you can push 600w out of it all the time without heating the amp up enough to melt the board, solder, or transistors (mosfets). If you try to turn it up past that point, get ready to buy another amp. You can put any sub you want on it, in any configuration you wish (within reason, it probably wont even move a jackhammer....lol) You can put 10 60w speakers on it or one 1000w speaker, as long as you don't try to output more power than the amp can handle. I would personally recommend two 250w 4ohm single voice coil speakers (wired one per channel) OR one 800w 4ohm dual voice coil speaker (wired in parallel and bridged at the amp)
