How can I file for unemployment?

How far back can you file for unemployment in Pa?

  • i lost my job last year in june... my employer is refusing to give me unemployment compensation... can i file from my job that i was laid off from in 2007?

  • Answer:

Your employer can't refuse. They can protest your getting it, but the unemployment people decide whether you're eligible. No, it's too late to apply based on a job that ended in 2007.

Other answers

NO

No. First, two years is too long. Second, the employer does not give you the compensation, or refuse to do so; the state does. Third, if the state determines that you are ineligible for unemployment compensation because of hte reason why your most recent job ended, then you cannot receive any unemployment compensation, even if you had other jobs earlier.
