My computer monitor keeps blowing air and making a beeping noise?

I have a dell desktop. I've been having it for about a year and a half. For the past two of days my monitor has been blowing and and making a beeping noise. I had to put it on the floor and hit it a couple of times to make the computer turn on. When it finally turns on a black screen comes up and says something about the memory has changed on it. I also see alot of dust from where the air fan is blowing. What could be the problem? A virus? Dust in the way?
